A Message From Ken Levine

When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing.

Since then, we’ve come to realize that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February 26, 2013. We wanted to let our loyal (and very patient!) fans know this as soon as possible.

I won’t kid you: BioShock Infinite is a very big game, and we’re doing things that no one has ever done in a first-person shooter. We had a similar experience with the original BioShock, which was delayed several months as our original ship date drew near. Why? Because the Big Daddies weren’t the Big Daddies you’ve since come to know and love. Because Andrew Ryan’s golf club didn’t have exactly the right swing. Because Rapture needed one more coat of grimy Art Deco.

The same principle now applies to BioShock Infinite.

What does this mean for you? It means a bit more waiting, but more importantly, it means an even better BioShock Infinite. The great can be made greater, and we owe it to both ourselves and to you, our fans, to take this opportunity.

We are also going to hold off on showing BioShock Infinite at the big events of the summer, like E3 and Gamescom. That way, the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box. Preparing for these events takes time away from development, time we’re going to use instead to get the best version of Infinite into your hands in February.

aw man :(. But I am glad to hear that they are putting a lot of hard work into Infinite :). The odd thing is, this makes me even more excited for the game. Knowing they obviously care more about the art of it and not the money if you know what I mean :)

This is soo stupid you guys have been working on it for like 4 years, how long does it take???? Im litteraly gonna be like a grown man when it comes out. ITs 2 months short of another year! This is not acceptable!!

As agonizing as the wait will be it will be SOOOOOOO worth it!!
If there's one thing Irrational Games can do well, its the AWSOME grunge-work in these games!!
You do that voodoo that you do so well, we will wait!

I'm so sad. D: I've had mine paid off for around a year now, and I wont be in the same state I pre-ordered it in when it comes out. x.x Granted, I'm sure I'll appreciate the tweaks, but now I'll have to drive 6 hours and take a couple days off work just to pick it up, where as in October, I would only have to drive 10 minutes. X.x

Means nothing to me. I won't be getting it. It looks desperate and unconvincing.

The game is the least convincing thing I ever saw. Elizabeth is pure, stupid, punchability, with a cleavage to lure in teenage boys, Bookers a dick who talks too much, and not one of the enemies looks remotely convincing. The enemies are uniformally stupid and one is blatantly copied off Dr Who. The setting and everything in it, is completely unconvincing.

Elizabeth looks like a complete and utter liability, and the game looks like one big escort mission, with a stupid bimbo in tow, nearly constantly.
There's no reason to make these people crazy. They ar'nt mutating, theres nothing there, apart from overdone 'patriotism'.

The only person in it who looks remotely good is Songbird. The rest are just so, much stupid!

They have talked total and utter bullshit about this game for months. Overhyped, overated, overdone. And zero real gameplay footage.
Ken Levine has said so much desperate crap! He is so full of prententious, desperate, garbage!
Worst bit of waffle.
'Songbird is programmed to be jealous and get angry if Elizabeth leaves. That makes the relationship more disturbing.'
No shit, sherlock! Robotic guardion, programmed to guard girl. Of course he would be angry if she left! There's nothing disturbing about it!

It actually looks like it's made of cast offs from Bioshock 1. From when they were going to set in in the early part of the 20th century.

They're probabely trying to drag a game out of the unconvincing that it mess it is. It's a desperate attempt to cash in on the other games, before too much time passes.

I know what you mean in a way.
I'm probably still going to buy it once prices go down, anyway.
But tbh I was never drawn to the idea of having a place in the sky. The whole ocean scenario seemed so realistic and and all. And yeah, I agree about the castoff things.
Idk I just feel like it's going to be completely different. Like maybe not even as dark as Bioshock. I mean I feel like they're completely changing the game. What always drew me into Bioshock was the awesome scenery, the characters, the idea of a literal madhouse. You could discover new things all the time and learn backstories.... It was just all awesome.
I don't think that Bioshock 2 was even as good as the first one. They just couldn't replace the story line. I did really like it, though! I liked how they stuck with the story and still had the remembrance of the characters from the first Bioshock. If you looked around you could still see the Fleet Hall and stuff from outside. You couldn't go there, obviously, but it was still there! And I really liked that they made the characters reference one another from Bioshock 1 to Bioshock 2.
I just really hate how they're trying to change the whole idea of Rapture in Infinite... It's dumb imo. They should've stayed in Rapture.

The sky thing is'nt that atractive to me. In games, sky places can get irritating after a point.

The place does'nt convince. If it's a secret place, how do they get helium for the airships? They have to be refueled after a point.
It doesnt make sense.

Under the sea, that's awesome.
Maybe they could'nt stay in Rapture, but they should have thought of a better place that looked realistic, with a logical power source.

Hardly bad news... Like a couple of people already said, if it means a better game, then I don't mind AT ALL. I loved both BioShock games but at the same time, they are very short. News that this one is going to be huge makes me pretty confident.

Aww, I was looking forward to this game. But if they feel that it's necessary than I don't mind waiting a longer. Better a delay than releasing an unfinished game or a game with so much content cut due to time constraints (I am looking at you Bioware).

I used to really like Ken Levine (Boy am I going to get a lot of hate for this comment)
But I just feel like this guy is so far up his own ass it's not even funny.
He's not humble. At all.
I mean I deeply love Bioshock.
But this is true.

I don't expect Infinite to be revolutionary.
In fact I honestly don't care it's been delayed. I doubt I'll buy it until it's stupidly cheap.

Oh and I'm sorry if I upset anyone.
I don't hate Bioshock. I really don't (It's my second favourite game)

I agree. I was neutrel to Ken Levine, till this joke. Did'nt care either way. But now, he's so far up his own ass, he can't see daylight. It's like he thinks he's soo great, everything he does is gold. No humility, at all.

Exactly. I also read your other comment.
Seems like I've finely found someone that agrees with me.
I honestly love Bioshock.
And to me. Infinite is not Bioshock.
There are no similarity between the games.

(Also being humble is one of the reasons I like Warren Spector. He's made what many people call the greatest game of all time. Yet he sounds like any other game designer when he speaks)

I love Bioshock,too, that's why Infinates such a disapointment.

Warren Spector sounds a cool guy. :)

On the offical forums, I suspect they started removing people who said things against Infinate and only leaving the most sychophantic comments. I've seen it before on Bioware forums. You don't get 99% to 100% fawning comments in forums, or anywere, without the neutral or negative being removed.
Some of the freakier fans, they were acting like Ken Levine could do no wrong, he would never make mistakes. What, he's infallable, now, is he? It got very creepy and ridiculous.
When pointed out he could, and was, they got nasty and got gagged by the moderaters.

No. It means when they started making Bioshock 1, the Big Daddies were'nt the same as the finished version we see now.

Well if you like Bioshock. I recommend Singularity if you can get it for cheap.
Also the Original Deus Ex and the new one Human Revolution. They're in no way a Bioshock clone but they're also an RPG FPS That's quite good.
