Last month brought the sad news for video game fans that the developing adaptation of Bioshock wasn't making any progress and producers, along with Irrational Games executive Ken Levine weren't clamoring to get the film off the ground unless it was going to be just right. That comes after directors like Gore Verbinski and 28 Weeks Later filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo were attached to helm the feature. However, those updates were over a year ago, and with no progress on the film, a fan decided to take the project into his own hands and craft and eerie and wholly effective teaser trailer for the video game adaptation. Watch!

Here's the fan-made teaser trailer for Bioshock www.youtube.com/watch?feature=…

It's not clear who made this impressive trailer since the YouTube account is simply named TheBioshockMovie and the only e-mail listed is for some banner called Majic Pictures, but I hope Universal is paying attention, because this is a great way to kick-off a marketing campaign for a Bioshock movie. There's mystery for those who haven't played the games, treats for those who have, and a creepy style with the use of Bobby Darin's swing track Mack the Knife running through the trailer. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was the perfect example of how Universal can screw up a great property, but if they end up making a hard R-rated film that kicks off with an ominous teaser trailer like this, then there's still hope.

The trailer. It's ok. Bit cheesy, to be honest. Not that ominous.

Shame about the film being held up. Don't know why they're fussing so much. Just make the thing already! They could make a tv series for less money and with less hassle.
A tv series could be better maybe. Fit more stuff in.

Maybe someone could make a web series. So long as the freaks who don't take notice and listen to the game don't do it. By that I mean the idiots who draw and write sugery and sickening stuff involving Fontaine or Tennbaum pre change of heart giving a shit or hugging a child Jack. The man was'nt a child that long and none of it involved hugs from Fontaine! The slash work involving Fontaine, eugh. And the worse stuff. Makes you wonder if these people actually take notice of the game at all. And it does'nt turn out as lame as the Dragon Age web series.
It could be cgi or live action.

Doug Jones for Cohen!

Failing that he could play just about every Big Daddy convincingly given his capacity for playing 'monsters'.

I'd like to see an unknown for Jack, he's the sort of role that someone can play as their first ever outing, I don't see the need for a Hollywood big shot to play him.

That said, I think I'd actually prefer them to make it CG and use the original voice cast, I can't hear anyone else as Augustus Sinclair and whilst there are some amazing British actresses out there Lamb is Lamb.

No one else could play Ryan, Shimmerman owns the character (Plus there's the comedy bonus in that if you're a trekkie!).

I'm ambivalent about the idea of a Bioshock film because most films based on games genuinely suck, we all remember the old Mario brothers film, right? And I would personally prefer it stays a game. I'd see it if it was made a film but I'd be expecting a lot of it!

Even though he might not be in it, I would want Gabriel Macht as Augustus Sinclair. I mean, LOOK at him. [link] He's perfect.

Holy shit, that's uncanny!

How about this chap as Stanley?

Thought he looked freakishly like a young Stanley ever since I saw Being Human.

yay hope someone notices this fanmade trailer like you mentioned & pushes this movie along to greatness. ^^ the trailer was extremely short but i like the beginning bit.

bioshock is a complex game so it makes sense they are being really careful about picking someone to do the movie right. takes a lot of balancing to make everything come across as classy but chilling, 50s vibe but also breaking edge technology. the rich, complex character development, awesome environment, etc.

i really want this movie to happen & be done awesome.
